The Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technology program is a collaborative effort between the Pipe Trades Training Center and UA Local 467. This five-year registered apprenticeship combines hands-on paid work experience with classroom learning. Students gain essential skills for maintaining, troubleshooting, and fixing sophisticated HVAC systems found in various settings, from medical centers to high-rise buildings and industrial plants. The curriculum also covers refrigeration system maintenance for structures of all scales. With growing emphasis on energy efficiency by California's Energy Commission and Public Utilities Commission, the industry anticipates increased need for LEED-accredited experts, TAB-certified personnel, and energy compliance specialists. The Associate in Science degree helps meet this projected workforce demand. Note: Apprenticeship course registration is restricted to those officially enrolled with California's Division of Apprenticeships Standards, as mandated by Labor Code Section 3074.3.
