The Associate in Arts in Child and Adolescent Development for Transfer program prepares students to transfer to select California State University (CSU) campuses. Graduates gain priority admission to CSU programs in fields such as Child and Adolescent Development, Psychology (at some campuses), Early Childhood Studies, Human Development, Elementary Education (at certain CSUs), Adolescent Development, Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Humanities. This degree satisfies lower-division major prerequisites at numerous CSU institutions. Prospective students should consult with an academic counselor to verify course requirements for specific universities and determine which CSUs qualify as local options.
Participants will develop knowledge about children's needs and developmental characteristics from infancy through middle childhood, along with the various factors influencing their growth as they relate to providing quality early education.
Students will apply ethical principles and professional conduct aligned with the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, demonstrating their dedication to the early childhood education profession.
