The Business Administration program serves a dual purpose (transfer and career preparation), equipping students with both theoretical foundations and hands-on skills for transitioning to four-year universities or launching careers and entrepreneurial ventures.
The curriculum offers essential courses for specialized business disciplines including accounting, finance, advertising, marketing, management, banking, and business information systems. Students aiming for careers in private enterprises, government, or nonprofit sectors are strongly encouraged to incorporate business fundamentals and specialized courses into their elective choices.
Furthermore, the department provides educational programs and initiatives for professional growth, career transitions, new employment opportunities, and small business creation. The Business department's entrepreneurship initiative is undergoing restructuring, with plans to enhance curriculum development, programming, and community collaborations to bridge critical skill gaps. Primary focus areas will include leadership, communication, teamwork, project oversight, and creative problem-solving.
Two specialized certificates are available through the department. The Data Analytics Certificate, developed with Silicon Valley Bank and Tableau, prepares individuals for data-focused careers through 23 units of immersive training in business data requirements, data processing, visualization, interpretation, and strategic application. The Digital Marketing Certificate, created with Facebook Inc., delivers 25 units of online education covering modern marketing techniques, website fundamentals, search optimization, digital advertising strategies, and performance analysis for effective online business promotion.
