The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (MLL) provides an MA program in East Asian Languages and Cultures through its Chinese and Japanese studies divisions.

Focusing on advanced language education and deep understanding of Chinese and Japanese literary traditions and societies, this graduate program features two specialization options: (1) Chinese Studies and (2) Japanese Studies. Applicants must choose one concentration upon admission.

The EALC program supports interdisciplinary exploration, enabling students to connect language skills with various academic fields.

Our faculty members and associates possess broad expertise spanning multiple areas such as: literary analysis, religious studies, language pedagogy, visual arts and cinema, and contemporary history. The comprehensive curriculum, with its strong focus on linguistic and cultural mastery, equips graduates for doctoral studies in related fields or careers in government, international relations, nonprofit sectors, and language education.
