While doctoral programs equip students for careers in academia and research, our program distinguishes itself through three key aspects.
We prioritize individualized support for every student. Our coursework fosters extensive collaboration between professors and students on various initiatives. We maintain adaptability to accommodate students' academic preferences when shaping their study plans. We're committed to seeing each admitted student graduate, viewing this achievement as our collective responsibility. We embrace students with interdisciplinary interests.
Our curriculum centers on addressing fundamental inquiries regarding political institutions, behaviors, and systems that form the foundation of political science. While students may specialize in conventional areas like Comparative Politics, American Government, International Relations, or Public Policy, we motivate them to transcend these categories and engage with broader scholarly questions.
We equip students with essential research capabilities to establish their scholarly pursuits and professional trajectories. Our program delivers foundational training in theory, quantitative methods, and research methodology, enabling students to independently pursue their investigations by their second year. This early preparation is crucial for students' future success, as it helps them develop a robust research portfolio that appeals to prospective employers.
