The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides graduate programs culminating in a Master of Science (MS) in electrical engineering or a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in electrical engineering. The MS curriculum delivers advanced instruction and hands-on experience in analytical problem-solving, balancing broad knowledge with focused expertise. Students undertake a master's thesis with an oral defense, enabling concentrated exploration of contemporary electrical engineering subjects. The PhD program cultivates comprehensive, autonomous expertise within the electrical engineering discipline, equipping graduates for careers in industrial, academic, or research settings. Doctoral candidates are required to make meaningful, innovative contributions to their specialized field through original research. These programs align their focus areas with faculty research specialties, currently offering concentrations in: computer engineering, cybersecurity, electromagnetics, telecommunications, digital signal processing and control systems, power engineering, power electronics, sustainable energy solutions, energy storage technologies, electromechanical conversion, robotic systems, and nano-scale electronic engineering.
