Eligible students from any undergraduate discipline admitted to the dual-degree program can enroll in up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level public administration courses that fulfill requirements for both their bachelor's degree and the professional MPA. These 12 credits, whether taken at undergraduate or graduate level, also satisfy the requirements for an undergraduate minor. While the Askew School doesn't provide an undergraduate major, students pursuing degrees in fields like Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, Political Science, or International Affairs may apply relevant public administration coursework toward both their major and MPA degree when taking equivalent graduate-level classes.

Ranked among the nation's top institutions of its kind, the Reubin O'D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy provides undergraduate students with minor options and a concentration within the Interdisciplinary Social Science (ISS) program, along with an accelerated five-year bachelor's-to-master's program. High-achieving undergraduates from any field can initiate graduate coursework in the professional MPA program while applying these credits toward their bachelor's requirements. Students may allocate up to twelve hours of elective space for graduate public administration courses that simultaneously count toward both degrees. These graduate courses taken through the combined degree pathway also fulfill the undergraduate public administration minor. Additionally, qualified undergraduates meeting major requirements through public administration courses in Political Science or Interdisciplinary Social Science programs may apply twelve graduate credit hours toward both their bachelor's major and MPA degree completion.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant who desires admission as a first year in college student must be graduated from a regionally accredited high school (or comparable international institution). All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required. We require freshman applicants to submit at least one ACT and/or SAT test score to be considered for admission. Florida State does not require the optional ACT writing score or the optional SAT essay. We encourage applicants to take both the ACT and SAT, and to attempt each exam more than one time to earn the highest possible score.
