Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering is a comprehensive field that includes both education and fundamental/applied research. It centers on creating, enhancing, and implementing integrated systems involving people, materials, information, equipment, and energy.
This discipline utilizes specialized expertise from mathematical, physical, and social sciences, combined with engineering design and analysis principles, to create, manage, forecast, and assess systems. The primary goal is typically to achieve an optimal system, process, or method.
The BSIE program covers engineering design for optimizing industrial systems, defining manufacturing systems, and scientifically managing activities and processes. Students receive specialized instruction in modern engineering tools and methods, including computer modeling, manufacturing, product-process-system design, and applied probability and statistics.
