The undergraduate Computer Science program's core objective is to deliver an exceptional educational experience. The department consistently enhances its faculty and course offerings to equip students for successful careers in the dynamic Computer Science field.

ABET's Computing Accreditation Commission accredits our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree program (www.abet.org). ABET serves as the premier accrediting organization for higher education programs in engineering, computing, technology, and applied sciences.

Our BS in Computer Science features clearly defined Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes. These objectives outline the anticipated achievements of our graduates, aligning with the department's mission, while the outcomes establish the competencies students need to meet these goals.

The department regularly reviews the BS curriculum to verify alignment with both student outcomes and educational objectives. This ongoing assessment helps identify areas needing enhancement, implement corrective measures, and gauge their effectiveness, fostering continuous program improvement. This process guarantees that our students benefit from top-tier education.

Qualification Requirements

An applicant who desires admission as a first year in college student must be graduated from a regionally accredited high school (or comparable international institution). All transcripts/academic records that are not in English must be accompanied by certified English translations. If the transcript/academic record does not indicate the degree earned and date the degree was awarded, separate proof of degree is required. We require freshman applicants to submit at least one ACT and/or SAT test score to be considered for admission. Florida State does not require the optional ACT writing score or the optional SAT essay. We encourage applicants to take both the ACT and SAT, and to attempt each exam more than one time to earn the highest possible score.
Internet based TOEFL (IBTOEFL): 80
