The Accounting Department is dedicated to equipping students with both foundational education and specialized expertise required to launch and thrive in accounting careers. Accounting presents diverse and fulfilling career paths across public practice, taxation, corporate sectors, government agencies, and nonprofit entities. Aspiring accountants need readiness to navigate an ever-evolving professional landscape. Beyond accounting proficiency, thriving professionals require comprehensive business understanding. Key competencies encompass strong verbal and written communication, teamwork and leadership abilities, task and personnel management skills, and the capacity for prudent professional decision-making. The BA or BS in Accounting curriculum delivers fundamental accounting principles, practical applications, and essential business knowledge to prepare graduates for prosperous careers across corporate, governmental, and nonprofit sectors.
Top FSU undergraduate accounting students can opt for the combined bachelor’s/master’s pathway that allows them to streamline their studies. Students must meet the following criteria: an overall GPA of at least 3.4, an upper-division GPA of at least 3.2 and an upper-division accounting GPA of at least 3.2 based on at least four upper-division accounting courses.
The following are the minimum scores required for admission to the University, although some departments require higher scores at the graduate level:
