The drawing and painting program combines multiple courses spanning beginner, intermediate, advanced, and graduate levels. Qualified MFA students may apply for Teaching or Technical Assistantships in this discipline. As an essential artistic skill, drawing serves both as a standalone medium and a preparatory technique for developing concepts in painting, sculpture, installations, or animations. While drawing can be exploratory and fun, its greatest value lies in enabling students to uncover fresh, expressive possibilities quickly. Drawing is accessible to all. The Painting curriculum adopts an educational approach that bridges traditional and modern methods. Focused on critique, the program strengthens foundational painting skills, material knowledge, and conceptual thinking. Faculty aim to cultivate artists with unique perspectives who can effectively express their vision through paint.
