Our Department of Political Science holds national recognition with more than 1,300 enrolled majors, providing coursework in American Politics, International Relations, Comparative Politics, and Public Policy. Students may also fulfill requirements through courses from the Askew School of Public Administration and political theory classes offered by the Philosophy Department. The political science major delivers a comprehensive liberal arts and sciences education at the undergraduate level. This curriculum equips graduates for diverse career paths by developing strong communication and analytical abilities while fostering independent thinking, open-mindedness, and engagement with contemporary issues. The program serves as exceptional groundwork for those pursuing advanced studies in political science, law, or related social science fields.
Additionally, we provide the Research Intensive Bachelor's Certificate (RIBC) for undergraduates seeking deeper exploration of political methodology. This specialized track prepares participants for research initiatives through the University Honors program and Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP).
