Beyond language studies, we provide linguistics courses and English-taught classes exploring various cultural aspects through film (Arabic, Brazilian, Chinese, French/Francophone, German, Hispanic, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Turkish), cultural studies (Hispanic, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Slavic, Turkish), folklore (Russian/Slavic), and translated literature (Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Latin American). Florida State University requires all students with prior language experience (from high school or study abroad programs) to complete departmental placement testing before enrolling in French, German, or Spanish courses at their appropriate level.
