The Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts provides an exclusive graduate program for exceptionally skilled conductors pursuing a Master's degree. Applicants should demonstrate exceptional musical ability and a deep commitment to orchestral conducting. Selected students gain extensive hands-on experience conducting the FIU Symphony Orchestra during both rehearsals and performances. Additionally, they work closely with faculty members and guest conductors, assisting with orchestral and opera productions. Recent visiting maestros have featured renowned figures like James Judd, David Effron, Jos Serebrier, Neal Varon, Eduardo Marturet, and Giancarlo Guerrero.

Qualification Requirements

Complete your GetAcceptd submission application to the School of Music. If you pass this pre-screening process you will be invited to a live audition.
Organized auditions are held three times per year, but can be scheduled at other times throughout the year upon request. Applicants who wish to be considered for University merit-based scholarships should attend the November audition date. Theory and history placement tests will be given during organized audition days.
