This program is designed to equip graduates with comprehensive skills for diverse conducting opportunities. Candidates will develop profound expertise in wind, brass, and percussion repertoire alongside a strong conducting passion. Participants will gain extensive hands-on experience conducting the Symphonic Band, Chamber Winds, and Wind Ensemble, receiving personalized guidance from Dr. Alston and Professor Bernhardt. Alumni of FIU's Wind Conducting Program now lead prestigious high school and university band programs nationwide.

Qualification Requirements

Complete your GetAcceptd submission application to the School of Music. If you pass this pre-screening process you will be invited to a live audition.
Organized auditions are held three times per year, but can be scheduled at other times throughout the year upon request. Applicants who wish to be considered for University merit-based scholarships should attend the November audition date. Theory and history placement tests will be given during organized audition days.
Official TOEFL (minimum score 550 paper-based, or 213 computer-based, or 80 internet-based) or IELTS (minimum 6.5).
