Forensic accounting is a niche accounting discipline that emerged from the necessity to examine financial records more deeply than standard accounting practices, uncovering issues like financial irregularities, fraudulent activities, risk evaluation, digital crimes, regulatory compliance, and intricate monetary dealings.

Those pursuing a Master of Science in Accounting and Financial Forensics (MSAFF) also play pivotal roles in detecting tax evasion and money laundering schemes, along with conducting non-criminal inquiries such as business valuation assessments or gathering pertinent bankruptcy information.

Florida Tech's MSAFF program equips students with sophisticated investigative skills, analytical reasoning, and financial examination capabilities to conduct specialized work including tax and accounting research, IT and internal audits, fraud detection, cybersecurity and data analysis, as well as investment and asset management evaluations. Forensic accounting professionals serve as advisors for financial crime prevention and must effectively translate complex fiscal data into clear explanations for various stakeholders including attorneys, executives, jurors, and fellow investigators.
