Our Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering Department provides a Ph.D. program specializing in Transportation and Environmental Engineering, equipping students with expertise to tackle tomorrow's civil engineering challenges in infrastructure, mobility, and environmental/water resource sustainability.
During their studies, students engage in cutting-edge research through externally funded projects, gaining exposure to the latest advancements in the field. Research focus areas include intelligent transportation systems, environmental engineering, geospatial intelligence, emergency management, smart city development, structural engineering, and materials science. This research-intensive Ph.D. program prepares graduates for diverse career paths in academia, industry, government, or research institutions.
The curriculum consists of 21 credits of advanced coursework (beyond the MS degree) plus 21 dissertation credits (with up to 3 credits available for doctoral internships). Flexible scheduling options include evening, weekend, and online courses. GRE scores are waived for graduates of ABET-accredited engineering programs, and international students may qualify for CPT/OPT opportunities.
