The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering strives to deliver an outstanding, cutting-edge undergraduate education for its students. Our goal is to cultivate graduates whose academic accomplishments rival or surpass those from top public engineering institutions, while also increasing diversity by supporting historically underrepresented groups—particularly African-American and female students—in the electrical engineering field. We seek national and global prominence through exceptional faculty and student research, scholarship, and professional contributions.
Our vision is to establish ourselves as a premier Electrical and Computer Engineering program that benefits both our state and country. By leveraging our core expertise in signals, controls, power systems, electronics, and robotics, we aspire to pioneer solutions for critical challenges in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and industrial innovation.
