As the land-grant institution of Florida A&M University (FAMU), the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) provides agriculture science majors with diverse educational pathways for academic advancement and career growth. CAFS programs deliver distinctive learning experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students by integrating teaching, research, global agriculture, business initiatives, and community engagement. The college grants a MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE (available with thesis or non-thesis tracks) in Agricultural Sciences, featuring specializations in Agribusiness, Entomology, Plant Science, and Soil and Water Science. This graduate program mandates completion of at least thirty-six (36) credit hours beyond the bachelor's level, typically spanning two years. The curriculum is designed to broaden students' understanding across various agricultural disciplines rather than focusing narrowly on one specialty. Nevertheless, student research projects remain highly focused, with guidance from faculty experts in their respective fields. Participants engage with real-world agricultural challenges through classroom instruction, practical experiences with program faculty, and external internships at partner universities or industry organizations. Each graduate student receives personalized support from a Thesis Supervisory Committee, which assists in course selection, evaluates problem-solving abilities, and conducts final oral examinations. This comprehensive approach prepares graduates to effectively navigate an evolving global landscape.
