As the land-grant component of Florida A&M University (FAMU), the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) provides agriculture science majors with diverse educational pathways for academic advancement and career growth. CAFS programs deliver distinctive learning experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students by integrating teaching, research, global agriculture, business initiatives, and community engagement. The college offers a MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE (available with thesis or non-thesis tracks) in Agricultural Sciences, featuring specializations in Agribusiness, Entomology, Plant Science, and Soil and Water Science. This graduate program requires completion of at least thirty-six (36) credit hours beyond the bachelor's level, typically spanning two years. The curriculum is designed to broaden students' understanding across various agricultural disciplines rather than focusing narrowly on one specialty. Nevertheless, student research projects are highly specialized, with faculty experts providing direct supervision. Participants engage with real-world agricultural challenges through classroom instruction, practical experiences with program faculty, and external internships at partner institutions or industry sites. Each graduate student receives guidance from a Thesis Supervisory Committee that oversees course selection, elective choices, internship placements, and evaluates progress through regular assessments and a final oral defense. This program prepares graduates to effectively navigate an evolving global landscape with advanced professional competencies.
