Social work is a professional field dedicated to assisting at-risk individuals, families, and communities from diverse backgrounds in overcoming difficulties and improving their quality of life. This program equips students with knowledge and awareness of human differences, teaches collaborative problem-solving approaches with people, groups, and neighborhoods, and fosters advocacy for social and economic fairness for marginalized populations. The specialized social work coursework starts in the junior year, as it's designed as an advanced professional program. First-year students (referred to as Pre-Social Work Majors) will initially complete the general education requirements for the degree.
