The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is dedicated to delivering an outstanding and innovative undergraduate program for its students. It strives to ensure its graduates achieve academic success on par with or surpassing that of students from leading state-supported engineering institutions. The department is committed to increasing the number of graduates from historically underrepresented groups, particularly African-American and female students, in the field of electrical engineering. Additionally, it seeks to gain national and international acclaim through the exceptional research, scholarly work, and professional and service contributions of its faculty and students.
The vision of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to become a premier educational and research hub in Electrical and Computer Engineering, serving both the state and the nation. By leveraging core strengths in signals, controls, power systems, electronics, and robotics, the department aims to drive innovative and creative solutions to critical societal challenges in areas such as human health, environmental sustainability, and industrial advancement.

English language requirements
Applicants whose native language is not English must take an English proficiency exam. The following are the minimum scores required for undergraduate admission to the University:
Internet based TOEFL (IBTOEFL): 80
Computer-based TOEFL: 173
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6
