The Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering offers three specialized tracks: Cell & Bioprocess Engineering, Biomaterials & Biopolymers Engineering, and Image & Signal Processing Engineering. While each major shares a substantial portion of the curriculum, all students complete coursework in liberal studies, mathematics, foundational sciences, computer science, advanced chemistry, general engineering principles, chemical engineering, and biomedical engineering science and design. To meet the FSU liberal studies or FAMU general education requirements, students choose electives from history/social science and humanities/fine arts.

The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering is dedicated to delivering an excellent, contemporary education grounded in the core principles and practices of chemical and biomedical engineering. Chemical engineering's central focus involves examining multicomponent, multiphase systems at molecular and macroscopic levels, with special attention to processes involving chemical reactions. Building on this chemical engineering foundation, the biomedical engineering program concentrates on cellular and biochemical processes in both natural and artificial settings. A key component of the educational experience includes faculty and students engaging in pioneering research that addresses vital societal challenges. Through classroom teaching, laboratory work, and research using modern experimental, mathematical, and computational methods, the Department aims to equip students for success in academic and professional careers.
