The Department of Psychology equips students with a solid grounding in psychological studies, with a special focus on Black and multicultural perspectives. Psychology examines the scientific exploration of mental processes and actions, aiming to reveal how our brains interact with social, environmental, and biological influences—and how these interactions shape behavior. The curriculum covers core psychological principles while highlighting Black psychological frameworks and multicultural approaches.
Students pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in psychology can progress to graduate studies. Those holding a BA or BS degree may pursue further education through our master's program in community psychology as a pathway to doctoral studies.
