The Department of Spanish and Portuguese provides Emory undergraduates with varied ways to explore Hispanic and Lusophone languages and cultures. Whether you're just starting out or already fluent, our programs and community can enhance your cultural knowledge and communication skills. The Combined Major in Spanish and Portuguese is a humanities-focused program requiring at least 36 credits at intermediate and advanced levels, with a balanced focus on both languages. This major particularly suits students entering Emory with solid Spanish skills who wish to expand their knowledge of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking cultures while refining their language proficiency, communication abilities, and analytical thinking.
