Exploring religious traditions ranks as one of humanity's earliest intellectual endeavors. Emory's academic program offers students an introduction to the doctrines and customs of contemporary world religions. Additionally, the University creates a valuable framework for examining religious phenomena from a broader perspective, enabling comparative and thematic analysis across different faiths - such as religion's role in society, its relationship with gender, and its cultural expressions. Those pursuing a joint major must secure guidance from two faculty advisors: one specializing in Religion and another from their secondary discipline. Learners might also consider complementing their studies with courses from Middle Eastern and South Asian Studies, African-American Studies, or Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies departments when designing their academic path.
