Students must complete a minimum of seven core courses to form their customized concentration area. These seven or more courses are carefully planned with guidance from either the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) or a faculty advisor, requiring their approval when the student enters the major program. Any later modifications to these concentration courses need authorization from the DUS.
The selected concentration courses equip students to conduct interdisciplinary research, addressing complex questions through multiple academic approaches. The knowledge and research methods developed in these courses ultimately lead to the mandatory IDS senior thesis project.
