History majors must select a specialized focus area within the department. Given the vast scope of historical studies and students' diverse academic goals, concentrations can provide either comprehensive historical knowledge (General Studies in History) or intensive study in one of three regional or three thematic specializations. Regional focus options include: United States, Europe, and Latin America with Non-Western World. Thematic concentrations feature: Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies; Statehood, Imperialism, and Civic Identity; along with Legal Systems, Economic History, and Human Rights.
