Comparative Literature (often shortened to Comp Lit) enables students to explore their passion for literature across national borders and academic disciplines. This field positions literary studies within a modern global framework, embracing cultural and linguistic variety alongside evolving technologies and digital media.
As a major, you will:
Analyze literary works in at least one foreign language.
Examine texts spanning from ancient to contemporary eras.
Investigate cross-cultural creative output, encompassing both canonical Western works and artistic expressions from non-Western cultures.
Apply theoretical approaches that offer insightful critiques of core humanities concepts.
Study connections between literature and other fields (such as philosophy, religion, history, legal studies, cinema, and psychology) as well as interactions between literature and different media forms.
Official high school transcripts
A score of 100 on the internet-based TOEFL and an overall band score of 7.5 on the IELTS is expected
