Eastern Michigan University's Master of Science in Tax Consulting (MSTC) program addresses the evolving distinction between tax compliance and advisory services that emerged more than three decades ago. The curriculum emphasizes that modern tax practice increasingly focuses on consulting rather than compliance, with this gap continuing to expand each year. Designed with this shift in mind, Eastern's MSTC equips students with consulting-ready skills from their very first day of employment. Delivered through the Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems Department, the program utilizes Hyflex technology for synchronous learning, ensuring remote participants receive identical course content, resources, and interactive opportunities as their on-campus counterparts. All sessions are recorded, allowing students to review instructional material throughout their enrollment. The program features distinguished instructors with practical expertise, including practitioners from leading local, national, and global accounting and legal firms.
