The Bachelor of Science in Cinema Studies equips students with fundamental skills and insights for aspiring filmmakers and dedicated movie enthusiasts. This program combines analytical coursework with practical production classes, offering both theoretical instruction and immersive learning opportunities. Students develop a nuanced understanding of both American and global cinema traditions while gaining industry-relevant expertise. Graduates emerge with the technical abilities demanded by entertainment careers and the scholarly foundation to advance cinematic art. Cinema Studies majors may fulfill requirements through either a film industry internship or specialized research in film theory, criticism, or history. Those selecting independent study may opt for the Rome Study Abroad program (when available), which includes an intensive week-long international component.

Meet the minimum requirement of 2.0 cumulative High School Grade Point Average or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for consideration.
EMU uses a test-optional admissions model for first-year admission.
A student with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 or higher will not be required to submit a standardized test score.
A student with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5-2.74 will be considered test-optional. Upon review of application and academic history, standardized test scores may be requested if required.
At student with a cumulative high school of 2.49 and below will be required to submit a test score.
