Upon finishing this program along with meeting other degree requirements, students earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree and become eligible for Michigan's Secondary Standard Certificate with a speech endorsement (certification code BD). Depending on their chosen minor, they may qualify for an additional endorsement. The curriculum provides thorough knowledge of Communication, Media, and Theatre Arts necessary for secondary education. Aligned with Michigan's Teacher Certification exam in Speech, graduates gain the skills to teach these subjects and oversee extracurricular programs like debate, forensics, theatre, and school broadcasting. The program equips future educators to create comprehensive curricula, lesson plans, learning activities, student assignments, and evaluation methods for high school courses in these disciplines.
