Those enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts History program explore humanity's journey by examining the individuals, locations, and milestones that shape our collective heritage. History scholars develop not just knowledge of bygone eras but also enhanced perspectives on contemporary issues. Studying history goes beyond rote learning—it involves investigative work, analyzing primary materials, formulating persuasive cases, and crafting captivating stories. These abilities prepare history graduates for professional achievement and empower them to engage in civic discourse as knowledgeable, reflective, and eloquent global participants. History majors complete coursework in research methodology and composition along with five specialized classes focusing on particular geographic areas, historical epochs, and conceptual topics. The program culminates in an immersive capstone seminar where students create an innovative research project.

Meet the minimum requirement of 2.0 cumulative High School Grade Point Average or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for consideration.
EMU uses a test-optional admissions model for first-year admission.
A student with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 or higher will not be required to submit a standardized test score.
A student with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.5-2.74 will be considered test-optional. Upon review of application and academic history, standardized test scores may be requested if required.
At student with a cumulative high school of 2.49 and below will be required to submit a test score.
