This specialization equips educators to work with students who have common disabilities such as learning disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and emotional/behavioral challenges. The program focuses on applying research-backed teaching methods in inclusive settings, partnering with mainstream educators to deliver tailored instruction through differentiation, support frameworks, and adaptive techniques that help students engage with challenging academic material. It also provides targeted remediation for weaknesses in key areas like literacy, numeracy, academic strategies, and social-emotional skills. Graduates of this high incidence track qualify for Tennessee teaching certification as K-8 or 6-12 intervention specialists.
