The English department provides a graduate TESOL certificate program, equipping students with essential expertise for teaching English as a second language across diverse educational environments outside traditional K-12 schools. This program helps participants comprehend second language acquisition, create and deliver tailored English instruction for adult learners and college students, cultivate professional identities as ESL educators, and establish foundations for ongoing career growth in this specialized teaching field.

A student applying to the TESOL certificate program should have the following:
a bachelor’s degree with at least 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
English language proficiency requirements: TOEFL score 550 (PBT), 79 (iBT), IELTS score of 6.5, PTE score of 53.
