The criminal justice and criminology program at East Tennessee State University aims to achieve four primary goals:
To foster analytical thinking about crime and the criminal justice system's purpose within a democratic framework.
To offer coursework that enhances the academic foundation of students from complementary fields.
To equip students with the skills needed for careers in criminal justice professions.
To enable current criminal justice professionals to further their educational qualifications.
This interdisciplinary program integrates legal studies, social sciences, behavioral sciences, and other academic disciplines. Aligned with its objectives, the curriculum maintains an equilibrium between theoretical exploration and practical application, with a mandatory core program for all majors.
