As a sociology student at Duquesne University, you'll develop deeper insights into the social frameworks and dynamics shaping everyday life, while discovering how social science research enhances our comprehension of society. Within our liberal arts curriculum, you'll examine diverse subjects addressing social issues, policies, and human relationships - from criminal justice and world cultures to the sociology of aging, healthcare, ethnicity, and social justice. This expansive field offers unparalleled opportunities for research, theoretical exploration, and practical implementation. The sociology program allows you to pursue general studies or specialize in one of two concentrations: criminal justice or social justice & policy.
The Social Justice & Policy track equips students to utilize sociological theories and research in analyzing social policies and their real-world applications. This concentration provides excellent preparation for graduate studies or careers in fields like Gerontology, Social Services, Municipal Government, and Urban Development.
