The Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling program prepares students for dynamic, compassionate therapeutic practice where artistic expression serves as the primary catalyst for change. Blending academic instruction with hands-on clinical training through practicums and internships, students build comprehensive skills for professional practice. The 90.0 quarter-credit program covers specialized art therapy subjects including diagnostic methods and intervention strategies for diverse age groups, trauma techniques, creative symbolism, digital tools, mindfulness practices, and substance abuse treatment. Additionally, students study core counseling concepts such as developmental psychology, mental health disorders, cultural influences, diagnostic evaluation, and group therapy principles. Upon completion, graduates qualify for ATR-Provisional, ATR, and ATR-BC certifications, along with Pennsylvania counseling licensure (after meeting post-graduate criteria).
