The MS and PhD programs in Pharmacology & Physiology involve conducting independent research under faculty guidance, focusing on molecular, cellular, and behavioral approaches within a highly collaborative setting. The MS curriculum offers comprehensive knowledge and technical skills, preparing graduates for research roles in both academic and industry settings.
MS graduates can transition into the PhD program, with their completed coursework counting toward the advanced degree. Alongside the traditional thesis-based MS option, students may pursue a non-thesis track by completing extra coursework and submitting a literature review. PhD students must successfully defend an original research thesis, pass a qualifying exam by their third year's November deadline, and have at least one co-authored publication accepted plus one first-author manuscript submitted to peer-reviewed journals during their studies.
