Faculty from the College of Medicine and School of Biomedical Engineering are pooling their expertise in this multidisciplinary research domain (additional details can be found under the Neuroengineering Initiative). The Neuroengineering specializations within both the Neuroscience program and Biomedical Engineering PhD programs serve as gateways to this evolving discipline. The neuroscience pathway focuses on applying innovative technologies and computational methods to neurophysiological studies.

Drexel's neuroscience research teams stand out for their deep knowledge in fundamental neuroscience, computational modeling of neural circuits and reflex systems, spinal motor prosthesis development, cortical motor/sensory prosthesis creation, brain-machine interfaces (BMIs), and neurorobotics. This program integrates cutting-edge neuroprosthetic methods for spinal, limbic, and cortical implants with therapeutic strategies for treating and rehabilitating brain and spinal cord injuries in rodent models.
