The Molecular & Cell Biology & Genetics (MCBG) program is a cross-disciplinary graduate initiative designed to cultivate scientists skilled in multiple fields. This comprehensive training program prepares graduate students to tackle biomedical challenges that span traditional boundaries, allowing them to select research mentors from nearly 80 faculty members across 10 departments/centers. Students can earn either MS or PhD degrees while exploring the composition, roles, and interactions of vital biological molecules within living systems. Our flexible curriculum and research opportunities are customized to individual academic goals. Explore our research focus areas.
Our leading-edge faculty drive innovations in biomedical science, pioneering techniques to decode genetic and molecular foundations of development and diseases including cancer, aging, HIV, malaria, and neurological conditions. Students engage in varied projects, from creating novel therapies to investigating molecular pathways behind cellular functions and disorders. This rigorous, research-intensive program equips students to conduct pioneering biomedical studies using multidisciplinary approaches
