Drexel University's Photography Program ranks among the nation's most distinguished programs in its field. Graduates of Drexel's Bachelor of Science in Photography have earned prestigious honors including The Pulitzer Prize for Photojournalism and The John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in the arts. Their photographic work has been showcased at AIPAD, a globally renowned annual photography exhibition, and displayed prominently in New York City's Times Square. Hannah Beier's 2020 Senior Thesis project, Time Apart, graced the cover of Time Magazine's Spring issue, accompanied by an extensive photo spread within the publication.
Program alumni have also had their photography published in leading magazines such as The New York Times Magazine, Time, Philadelphia Magazine, Architectural Digest, Martha Stewart Living, Newsweek, and Italian Vogue. Their work forms part of the permanent collections at both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and PAFA, with several alumni publishing monographs of their photographic collections. The program's exceptional track record of student achievements remains unmatched in photographic education.
What sets our photography program apart nationally is our innovative curriculum that combines advanced visual training with technological expertise. Students master the complete spectrum of photographic techniques - from traditional darkroom processes to sophisticated digital imaging, including motion and video production. This comprehensive training, combined with a mandatory six-month industry Co-op and three specialized courses in photographic business practices, explains our graduates' exceptional employment success following commencement.
