DePaul's Master of Science in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies, the nation's inaugural graduate program in this field, equips you with an ideal balance of academic knowledge and hands-on skills to support displaced populations globally. Through this refugee studies curriculum, you'll develop comprehensive expertise in legal frameworks, policy responses, and humanitarian interventions for forced migration challenges. The program combines coursework across multiple disciplines including law, history, public health, public administration, and international relations, supplemented by practical training with organizations serving displaced communities. Designed as a two-year program, most classes are conveniently scheduled for evenings at either our Loop or Lincoln Park locations.

Qualification Requirements

The Master of Science in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies admits students with the following prerequisites:
A bachelor's degree with evidence of strong intellectual and writing skills.
Preference of minimum 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale.
Previous study and/or experience in refugee and forced migration, though not required.
Evidence of a strong interest in pursuing a career related to human rights, refugee, migration, health, policy, academy, and forced migration.

We accept TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo. The college requires a minimum TOEFL score of 80, a 6.5 IELTS, or 115 Duolingo score.
