As an attorney, you'll encounter distinct challenges daily, ranging from navigating intricate contracts to effectively presenting cases before judges. That's precisely why DePaul College of Law provides foundational knowledge to equip you for contemporary legal issues, combined with innovative methods for hands-on training. Through both academic studies and real-world experience, DePaul's thorough program readies you for a legal career and future opportunities.
To obtain a Criminal Law Certificate, students must fulfill the 86 credit hours needed for the Juris Doctor degree and meet all JD prerequisites. From the elective courses required for the JD, students must complete 15 credits from designated criminal law classes, which include three mandatory subjects. Candidates must maintain at least a 3.00 GPA in Certificate coursework. Should students complete more than the required 15 credits from approved courses, all grades from those classes will contribute to the minimum 3.00 GPA standard. Previously completed classes, courses from other DePaul departments, and newly introduced seminars may count toward the Certificate with proper authorization.
