The DePaul University School of Music Percussion Department is dedicated to equipping every student with core technical skills and musical understanding necessary for professional success in any musical discipline. Our percussion graduates pursue diverse paths including performing, teaching, arts administration, audio engineering, and composing. Whether your passion lies in orchestral percussion, contemporary works, small ensembles, or teaching at various educational levels, we offer tailored programs to match your goals.
Modern percussionists need comprehensive training across ALL percussion specialties—not just limited areas. Our faculty consists of active performing artists who share real-world expertise with students. Based in downtown Chicago, students experience a wide array of musical performances and regularly witness their instructors in professional settings. Ensemble development occurs through percussion groups, large ensembles, and chamber music, while solo abilities grow through recitals, private lessons, masterclasses, and simulated audition experiences. Degree options include BM, BME, MM, MME, and Performers Certificate. We invite you to browse our website to learn more about our faculty, performance groups, audition details, and course offerings.
