The Department of Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) examines the diverse impacts of Latin American and Latinx populations worldwide. Our curriculum highlights the deep connections formed between Latin America and the United States, especially through the development of Latinx communities within the U.S. We also investigate the intricate relationships with Indigenous, African, European, Semitic, Arab, and Asian populations across the Americas. This multidisciplinary field fosters analytical perspectives on identity, culture, and social structures while prioritizing community involvement and equity-focused teaching methods. Our courses provide essential cultural literacy, preparing graduates for influential roles in various professional fields or advanced academic pursuits.
