Students who select the Commercial German focus aim to enhance their advanced intercultural language studies with essential international business competencies. The concentration's bridge courses (GER 320 and MGT 300) blend interdisciplinary knowledge, while the two additional electives (chosen from the MGT course list) enable deeper exploration of specific business management interests. Upon declaring the German major with this concentration, students should consult the German Program Director, who collaborates with College of Business advisors to optimize course double-counting opportunities where possible, helping students efficiently reach their career objectives. We strongly recommend participating in the German program's study abroad opportunities: either a Fall quarter or full academic year program in Vienna, or a short-term, human rights-focused service-learning experience in Berlin and Vienna examining historical memory and contemporary refugee issues. These affordable programs offer scholarship funding through DePaul's Study Abroad Office and Modern Languages Department.
