Dartmouth is renowned nationwide as an exceptional institution for language and literature studies. The French and Italian Department has consistently pioneered initiatives to introduce students to diverse cultures. Relative to its undergraduate enrollment, we rank among the largest foreign literature departments in the U.S. Our curriculum spans from introductory language classes to comprehensive literature surveys and specialized advanced seminars. Both major and minor degree options are available through our department. Annually, we organize roughly eight semester-long study abroad programs across France and Italy.
