The Kinesiology Department focuses on fostering holistic growth for every student enrolled in its programs. A key priority is cultivating an understanding and reverence for the human body as a divine vessel, encouraging responsible care of this sacred gift. The department's physical activity requirements serve two primary objectives: First, students engage in structured exercise to counterbalance sedentary academic hours, promoting basic fitness and stress relief. Second, they discover lifelong physical pursuits that support social connection, emotional wellbeing, and comprehensive health. Through its curriculum, the department shapes both intellect and physique, equipping future servant leaders for careers in education, coaching, and health/sports professions. Within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the department provides kinesiology majors with three specialization paths: General Kinesiology allows customization through four upper-division electives; Exercise Science prepares students for fitness, rehabilitation, and sports science careers; while Sport Performance delivers specialized training in athletic development, covering conditioning techniques, safety protocols, and performance management for aspiring sports professionals.
