Aspiring educators seeking certification for Grades 4 through 8 must pursue an interdisciplinary academic major while fulfilling general education requirements. The interdisciplinary major options for Grades 4-8 include English Language Arts and Reading, Mathematics, or Science certification pathways. For Texas certification eligibility, students must complete coursework aligned with the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) standards for these grade levels. The curriculum consists of four key elements: General Studies Requirements (outlined at the beginning of each degree plan), Professional Responsibility coursework, the Interdisciplinary Academic Major, and additional electives to reach the 120-credit minimum for a bachelor's degree, with at least 42 credits at the upper-division level.
